Dry Fly Fishing At Its Best!
These trips are designed for both beginning and advanced anglers and all
those in between. Personalized instruction is a major part of our program, or
if you are an experienced angler we will take you to the fish. We fish the
middle fork of the flathead
river, renowned for its abundance of the native Westslope cutthroat
trout, from either drift boats or rafts equipped with fishing seats. Two
fishermen and one guide per boat. Catch and release. Trip price includes all
fishing equipment.
We begin these trips at Glacier Outdoor Center in West
Glacier where you will have a chance to meet your guide. If you don't have your
own gear, your guide can get you set up as they all have a good selection of
equipment you can use. Don't forget to reimburse them, though, if you
happen to lose a fly or two. If you would like an instructional fly
fishing trip, the guides will be able to help you out and may teach you the
basics with some riverbank instructions. We also offer a one day fly
fishing school which focuses on the history of fly fishing, types of equipment,
casting techniques, fly identification, knots, presentation, hatches, reading
water and fish identification.
After a short drive to the put in and a few minutes of
getting ready, you will head down river in one of our 16-foot drift boats or
rafts equipped with fishing seats for a day of castin', catchin' and let'n em
go! |
All you need to bring is a pair of shoes you don't mind
getting wet, a jacket, sunglasses, a wide brim hat or cap, sunscreen, and a
hearty handshake. We also recommend you bring your own equipment, but if that's
not possible that's okay too. Flies can be purchased at Glacier Outdoor Center
and the fly shop staff can recommend the hot ones. If you're bringing your own,
we recommend a good variety of basic western trout patterns including Sofa
Pillow stone, red and yellow Humpies, Royal Wulff, caddis patterns (especially
the Elk Hair), Parachute Adams and Stimulators. All rods should be transported
in an unbreakable rod case.
Our goal on these trips is to give you the best fishing and
an enjoyable experience to take home with you. With our friendly guides you
will be able to polish your fishing techniques while having a great time at it.
If it's fishing you're after, come see what Montana has to offer!
